Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
We are looking for a Senior Principal Technical Program Manager to shape and deliver the highest-priority, most complex programs across Atlassian's Enterprise and Emerging Businesses. This is a senior level individual contributor role with department- and portfolio-level scope. You will bring clarity to ambiguous business and technical problems, align senior leaders across functions, and establish the operating mechanisms that turn strategy into measurable customer and business outcomes.
You will partner with leaders across Product, Engineering, Design, GTM, Finance, Legal, Security, IT, and Transformation. Your work will span multiple teams and time horizons-from near-term market-facing launches to multi-year platform, migration, monetization, and operating-model transformations. You will be accountable for outcomes, not simply project plans, and will elevate the program-management craft through reusable systems, mechanisms, and coaching.
This role will report to the Head of Program Management for Enterprise and Emerging and be member of the Program Management Technical craft.
What you'll do
  • Own portfolio-level outcomes: Set direction for and drive a portfolio of strategic programs, connecting company priorities to integrated plans, measurable outcomes, and clear executive decisions.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional delivery: Orchestrate end-to-end execution across Product, Engineering, GTM, Finance, Legal, Security, IT, and external partners, managing dependencies, risks, trade-offs, and readiness across organizational boundaries.
  • Turn ambiguity into clarity: Frame poorly defined problems, establish the right decision forums and operating cadence, clarify ownership, and create alignment where priorities, incentives, or technical constraints conflict.
  • Drive strategic launches and transformations: Lead market-facing launches, product integrations, enterprise-readiness efforts, platform migrations, pricing or monetization changes, and other initiatives with material customer, revenue, or operational impact.
  • Influence senior leaders: Build trusted relationships with leaders and executive stakeholders; provide concise, fact-based recommendations; escalate the right issues at the right time; and drive decisions through closure.
  • Establish durable mechanisms: Create scalable planning, dependency-management, risk, readiness, governance, and benefits-realization mechanisms that improve predictability and accelerate delivery across the portfolio.
  • Measure business impact: Define success metrics and use qualitative and quantitative insight to track customer outcomes, adoption, revenue, operational health, delivery performance, and the realized value of major programs.
  • Raise the craft bar: Mentor and enable program managers, share patterns and best practices, and help evolve how technical program management operates across R&D and the broader company.
  • Lead through influence: Mobilize teams without relying on formal authority, sustain momentum through periods of change, and create an environment of accountability, transparency, and effective teamwork.

Success in the first 12 months
  • Establish a trusted, integrated view of strategic programs, including outcomes, dependencies, risks, and decision needs.
  • Deliver one or more high-impact programs or transformations with clear evidence of customer, revenue, or operational impact.
  • Improve executive visibility and decision velocity through concise reporting, effective governance, and clear escalation paths.
  • Introduce at least one reusable program-management mechanism that improves predictability or reduces cross-team delivery friction beyond the immediate program.
  • Build durable partnerships with senior leaders and become a go-to operator for the most ambiguous, cross-functional problems in the portfolio.

Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in technical program management, product/program leadership, software development, engineering operations, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated at level scope: ownership of complex, multi-team or portfolio-level initiatives with influence across an organization and sustained impact over multiple quarters or years.
  • Proven success delivering large-scale technology programs, product launches, platform integrations, migrations, monetization initiatives, or enterprise-readiness programs.
  • Strong understanding of software development and technology delivery, including modern development practices, Agile methodologies, dependency management, technical risk, and operational readiness.
  • Track record of translating business strategy into executable plans, measurable outcomes, and clear senior-leadership decisions.
  • Exceptional executive communication: able to synthesize complex business and technical scenarios, surface the essential trade-offs, and communicate with precision to senior audiences.
  • Experience influencing across Product, Engineering, GTM, Finance, Legal, Security, IT, and other partner organizations without direct authority.
  • Strong systems-thinking skills and a record of improving operating models, program mechanisms, organizational effectiveness, or delivery quality at scale.
  • Experience using data, customer insight, and business metrics to assess progress, make trade-offs, and demonstrate realized impact.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical, business, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in enterprise SaaS, cloud transformation, AI-enabled products, platform adoption, or complex product ecosystems.
  • Experience leading company-wide or business-unit-wide change across global teams and multiple time zones.
  • Experience with consumption-based pricing, usage-based metrics, product integrations, enterprise migrations, or customer lifecycle transformation.
  • Experience building or scaling a program-management community of practice, talent model, or operating framework.
  • Experience partnering with senior executives and presenting recommendations in high-stakes forums.
  • Experience working in Enterprise companies, driving significant product integrations and platform adoption across business units and timezones.
  • Background in data analytics and insights, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights
