Our client, a world leader in life sciences and biotechnology, is looking for a “Systems Engineer II/ Sr Systems Engineer” based in Pleasanton, CA.

 

Job Duration: Long Term Contract (Possibility Of Extension)

Pay Rate : $80/hr on W2

We are seeking a Senior System Engineer to support the development and integration of next-generation diagnostic solutions. The role will focus on integrating instruments, molecular diagnostic workflows, software, and data pipelines across multidisciplinary teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead system integration across end-to-end diagnostic workflows, including sample preparation, library preparation, qPCR, digital PCR, sequencing, and data processing.
  • Define system requirements and contribute to system testing, verification, and validation (V&V).
  • Develop and execute test cases and analyze results against system requirements.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, manage defects, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Create and maintain system requirements, specifications, integration plans, and verification documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow automation, simplification, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with assay, software, hardware, bioinformatics, and cross-functional engineering teams.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with instrument and software troubleshooting/integration.
  • Experience with IVD, molecular diagnostics, or diagnostic instrumentation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of system testing, requirements, verification/validation, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

 

Preferred

  • Experience with NGS/sequencing, qPCR, dPCR, sample/library preparation, or bioinformatics.
  • Experience with cloud-based systems.
  • Scripting/programming experience, particularly Python or Java.
