The Senior Training Specialist role is responsible for responsible for the development of training curriculum, setting strategy, and facilitating in-person and/or virtual learning experiences that incorporates use of adult learning principles for learners at all levels of the organization and recognizes different learning/work styles using existing resources or programs. This role will deliver training and measure individual progress to ensure learners can deliver business results. This role will be responsible for delivering learning solutions that cover a wide range of topics such as leadership development, professional development, company orientation, industry knowledge, Thrivent product, process, and systems knowledge, as well as service skills development. Coaches less experienced training specialists, facilitators, instructional designers and other team members on learning solution design and delivery, and program management.

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Analyze ambiguous and complex business needs to identify skill-building requirements and determine the right facilitation methodologies to achieve the desired business outcome.
  • Consult with business leaders and executive leadership to assess complex and ambiguous business outcomes, identify learning/development/training needs and assist with the development of the solutions and tools to address those needs.
  • Facilitate in-person and/or virtual learning experiences using existing resources and programs and assist in developing, testing, and operationalizing new experiences and programs.
  • Support the design, development, and management of effective learning and performance-focused solutions, assess business & target audience learning needs, assist with developing the learning strategy, and identifying delivery methods including the identification of innovative learning methodology.
  • Manage complex learning and development programs. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide business context in the design, develop and implementation of relevant learning programs and solutions delivered through various channels.
  • Ensure a positive, inclusive and effective learning experience for all participants to achieve intended learning objectives
  • As requested, be responsible for revising existing learning materials which could include job aids, tutorials, web-based training, workshop curriculum, learner guides, articles, publications, technology tips, video, etc. based on user feedback and necessary content changes.
  • Document and maintain all training records. Provide timely follow-up to participant questions.
  • Monitor, evaluate and record effectiveness of training courses. Recommend and develop improvements as needed.
  • Provide feedback to content owners, represent training interests on project teams, and recommend training approaches as needed.
  • Identify internal and/or external emerging issues, research and analyze training and development practices, methodologies and trends and recommend new approaches.
  • Train, oversee day-to-day work and coach less experienced training specialists
  • Stay current on trends and best practices within the adult learning community.

This role will advise and counsel people leaders, especially senior leaders, on effective training delivery approaches and timing. This role is responsible for learning program management and classroom management of trainees; for assessing trainee and learning solution performance; and for identifying learning solution continuous improvement needs to business leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Six to eight years’ experience delivering training for in-person and/or virtual settings.
  • Demonstrated ability designing courses using a commonly accepted instructional design model, e.g., ADDIE.
  • Demonstrated ability writing explicitly stated learning objectives and creating lesson plans using Bloom’s taxonomy.
  • Experience developing asynchronous learning solutions, e.g., eLearning.
  • Experience using eLearning development tools and learning management systems.
  • Ability to coach and develop less experienced training specialists and other L&D professionals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working with and influencing employees and leaders at all levels in the enterprise

Preferred: 

  • Master’s degree or certification in business, training & development, human resources fields, or education preferred
  • Project or program management of large-scale learning, training, or continuous improvement initiatives. Experience in project management with certification preferred.
  • Facilitation of in-person and/or virtual training experience in a corporate setting.
  • Experience coaching/mentoring in a corporate setting.
  • Three or more years of experience in human resources, organizational development or business management capacity.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with global team members.
  • Ability to use data and other training tools to inform and improve future team training.
  • Ability to develop training strategies and stay informed on adult learning trends.
  • Ability to take initiative as a self-starter while remaining flexible and adapting to a fast-paced environment.
  • Prefer knowledge of Thrivent’s insurance and/or investment and/or banking products.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $81,537.00 - $110,315.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
