Opportunity:

Offerwall by Unity is a leading mobile advertising and monetization platform that empowers game developers to maximize revenue and engage users through rewarded experiences. For over a decade, we've connected millions of players with offers that provide tangible in-app value, and we're now building the next generation of that product.

At the center of it is Offer Delivery, the backend service that decides which offer a player sees, when, and on what terms. It operates on two fronts: bidding in real time into video ad auctions as a DSP, and placing offers directly outside the auction flow. Both are high-throughput, latency-sensitive, and revenue-critical.

We're seeking a Staff Software Engineer to be the technical leader for Offer Delivery. You will set the technical vision for the service, define its architecture, influence its roadmap, and drive delivery of it. You'll own how targeting, pacing, and supply-side rules are expressed and enforced on the serving path. You'll coordinate closely with the auction, machine learning, platform, and product teams whose systems Offer Delivery sits between.

As a technical leader on our Offerwall team, you will play a critical role in evolving our core monetization product, designing and implementing its next generation of technology. This is an exciting opportunity to lead impactful initiatives, architect robust solutions, and directly contribute to the financial success of countless mobile app developers and the engagement of millions of users globally. You will work at the intersection of rewarded advertising, advanced fraud prevention, and large-scale data processing, driving innovation that directly impacts our bottom line and industry leadership.

Your solutions will foster stronger collaboration and integration with other Ads products at Unity. You will mentor and guide engineers as they design, build, and deploy web applications and services. You will also play a key role in designing backend technical solutions that focus on system performance, reliability, and delivering business value at scale.

What you'll be doing:

  • Architect & Design: Lead the technical design and architecture for Offer Delivery services, features, and critical strategic initiatives, collaborating closely with senior engineers and managers.
  • Develop & Innovate: Build, test, and operate the Golang services that power real-time bidding into video auctions (OpenRTB) and direct offer placement outside the auction flow.
  • Raise the Bar: Mentor engineers, set engineering standards, and foster a culture of technical excellence on the team.
  • Drive Cross-team Delivery: Ensure seamless communication and collaboration with product, Ad Viewer,  teams in a distributed environment.
  • Operate & Maintain: Ensure the high availability and reliability of our production services, including participation in on-call rotations and proactive system monitoring.

What we're looking for:

  • Technical Leadership: track record of owning a significant backend system, setting direction, making the architectural calls, and getting it delivered through others as well as yourself.
  • High-scale distributed systems: Demonstrated ability to design and ship large-scale, highly available, latency-sensitive distributed services with complex business logic.
  • Core Technologies: Strong proficiency in backend development using Go (or clear ability to become effective in it quickly). Working knowledge of gRPC with a willingness to adapt to the best tool for the job.
  • Observability & Data Streaming: Practical experience with observability platforms (logging, metrics, monitoring/tracing) and message bus technologies for managing complex data streams.
  • Integration Design: track record of building new systems amid rapidly shifting requirements. You can design systems that are stable through three requirement changes, and you know which change should revise the core data flow.
  • Cross-team influence & mentorship: Experience driving technical work across team boundaries and developing the engineers around you.

Strongly preferred:

  • Experience building or operating a DSP, ad exchange, or real-time bidding system, and familiarity with OpenRTB.
  • Working understanding of supply-side ad mediation concepts such as waterfall vs. bidding, adapter and SDK integration, and how creative-format choices determine which mediators and networks can carry your demand.
  • Background in ad serving, auction mechanics, or programmatic advertising more generally.

Additional information:

Zone A: $200,400 - $260,500
Zone B: $178,300 - $231,800
Zone C: $157,800 - $205,200
