Why Harvey

At Harvey, we’re transforming how legal and professional services operate. By combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise, we’re reshaping how critical knowledge work gets done for decades to come.

This is a rare chance to help build a generational company at a true inflection point. We have strong product-market fit and world-class investor support. We’re scaling fast and defining a new category in real time. The work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth — personal, professional, and financial — is unmatched.

Our team moves fast, takes ownership, and is deeply committed to the mission — operating with intensity, staying close to our customers, and pushing each other for excellence. We live by three values: Decisiveness, Simplicity, and Job's Not Finished. We act quickly on clear judgment over perfect information, we believe simplicity is what scales, and we're never satisfied with where we are. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who share that drive, we'd love to build with you.

At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today — and we’re just getting started.

Role Overview

As Harvey's first Content Designer, you'll shape how people understand, interact with, and trust our product. You'll lead content design across interfaces and AI responses, defining everything from terminology and interaction patterns to how Harvey expresses itself.

Working closely with product designers, engineers, PMs, and AI researchers, you'll bring clarity and consistency to experiences across the Harvey ecosystem. You'll lay the foundations for our content practice and develop the tools and guidance that help teams put content principles into practice as they design and ship.

We're looking for someone who combines strong writing craft with systems thinking and a clear point of view on AI experiences.

What You'll Do
  • Define Harvey's voice, tone, and content principles across interfaces and AI responses.

  • Lead content design of key experiences, from initial concept through polished execution.

  • Develop AI-assisted tools and guidance that help teams apply content standards as they build.

  • Champion a high design bar, helping the team make thoughtful, intentional decisions at every step.

What You Have
  • 8+ years (Staff) in content design, UX writing, or content strategy, with a portfolio that demonstrates your best work.

  • Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, intuitive language for expert audiences.

  • Deep understanding of voice, tone, and content systems, with a strong sense of writing craft.

  • Ability to design AI experiences and use AI-assisted tools to scale content quality.

  • Ability to move between content details and broader strategy, building a content practice while maintaining a high pace of execution and quality bar.

  • Ability to clearly articulate system decisions and tradeoffs to designers, engineers, and cross-functional partners

  • Strong opinions, loosely held, being comfortable challenging conventions and evolving best practices as the discipline changes

  • Comfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces and bringing structure where it doesn't yet exist

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills to articulate content decisions and rationale.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
