NÜ Metal is CoreWeave’s Hardware New Product Introduction (NPI) team, a multidisciplinary group of mechanical, thermal, electrical, and power engineers that takes new GPU and server platforms from early concept through validation, integration, and large-scale production across our data centers. The team bridges hardware design, manufacturing partners, and data center operations to de-risk new platforms early and ensure each new generation of high-density, often liquid-cooled hardware lands in the fleet reliably, efficiently, and at scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the architecture, design, and evolution of thermals for high-density, GPU-accelerated data centers.
  • Design, validate, and optimize rack-level and server-level thermal solutions.
  • Partner closely with data center teams to define end-to-end thermal architecture—from building infrastructure through the rack.
  • Collaborate with world-class engineers developing next-generation AI/ML hardware platforms.
  • Advise on data center secondary loop layout, commissioning, and operation
  • Review and evaluate JDM/ODM thermal designs, including thermal simulations; independently run simulations as needed.
  • Debug complex thermal and system-level issues, incorporating learnings into future designs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to manage heterogeneous deployments, ensuring a cohesive thermal strategy across varying CDUs, server platforms, and facilities.
  • Drive thermal designs from early concept through mass production.
  • Ensure designs meet high standards for efficiency, safety, reliability, and scalability.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to support production readiness and ramp.
  • Actively contribute to architectural discussions, providing strong hardware design guidance and tradeoff analysis.
  • Mentor and support the growth of junior engineers.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of thermal management experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience in heatsinks, thermal interface materials, liquid cooling, heat exchangers and fans

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience designing complex thermal systems for hyperscale data centers
  • Experience in liquid cooled data center architectures, including cold plates, wetted material compatibility, and CDUs
  • Strong thermal design expertise
  • Experience leading cross-functional design efforts in fast-paced environments
  • Strong documentation and design review practices
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
  • Understanding of rack-level thermal requirements and their impact on upstream infrastructure, including CDUs, facility piping, and chillers
