In this role, you’ll lead design for high-impact rider surfaces that are central to Lyft’s growth and success. You’ll drive design strategy and execution across initiatives focused on rider conversion, retention, and service excellence within the Lyft app — and guide the work of other designers on the team to bring these experiences to life.

As a Staff Designer on Core XP, you’ll help shape the product strategy for experiences used by millions of riders every day. You’ll collaborate closely with partners in product, engineering, and research to build thoughtful, intuitive solutions that raise the bar for transportation experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape product strategy through user-centered design thinking and business acumen
  • Drive design direction for key initiatives in Core XP, including offerings differentiation, conversion optimization, and rider engagement
  • Problem solve, think big, and explore divergent concepts/ideas while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards your vision
  • Plan strategically and think tactically as a partner with product and engineering to define priorities and products
  • Influence the shape of the product with research and data while executing design work
  • Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally, while effectively articulating design rationale
  • Inspire the entire team (including cross-functional partners) by bringing new ideas to the table
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to designers at various levels
  • Create frameworks for design decision-making and quality standards
Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience working in Product Design, UX, UI, or an HCI related field with experience working on mobile and web design
  • Experience leading complex product initiatives that drove measurable business impact
  • Deep expertise in user-centered design methods and product development processes
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, outstanding craft, and business impact
  • Outstanding visual design, interaction design, and product thinking capabilities
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to articulate design decisions
  • Experience mentoring designers and elevating team capabilities
  • Highly proficient with design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.)
  • Highly proficient with interactive prototyping tools (Framer, Principle, Origami, Cursor etc.)
  • Excited and comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
