Ready to be a Titan?

ServiceTitan is building the Developer Platform for enterprise-scale SaaS. DevEx is a newly formed, lean, highly agile team (3–4 people) building AI-enabled platform infrastructure — pioneering AI-assisted development tools and coding agent runtimes (like Codex) to help engineering teams operate at “AI speed.”

This is a Staff Software Engineer role per ServiceTitan's engineering leveling framework: 10+ years of experience, Advanced Engineer level, working across squad(s)-scale, large or potentially distributed systems.

What You'll Build

  • AI-Native Tooling: Components of the agent orchestration layer and harness that let coding agents operate reliably inside ServiceTitan's systems.
  • Environments: CDEs, on-demand provisioning, mocking, and data seeding.
  • Build & CI/CD: Build parallelization, remote caching, test-splitting, secure and progressive rollout pipelines.
  • Developer Portal: Golden Paths, scaffolding, and service/API catalogs.
  • Guardrails & Compliance: Automated linting, security scanning, and policy-as-code embedded in workflows.

What You'll Do

  • Nature of Work: Make core architectural decisions and design systems within your area; lead investigations and guide deep-level refactoring; demonstrate knowledge across multiple domains (agent runtimes, build infra, environments) and know how to glue distributed systems together.
  • Delivery: Write code and set the standard others emulate — full rigor on testing for scale, resiliency, performance, and security. Roadmap large tracks of work with reliable estimates and help the team hit its commitments.
  • Independence & Decision Making: Make technical decisions across a large area of the platform and resolve in-depth needs without needing to be told how.
  • Ownership: Be the go-to SME for at least one major piece of the DevEx platform (e.g., the agent harness, or the CDE provisioning layer) — recognized by the team as the person who owns it.
  • Leadership: Mentor engineers in technical design and architecture; participate in interviewing and hiring recommendations for the team.
  • Partner with the Principal Engineer/EM to turn multi-quarter strategy into sequenced, shippable slices of infrastructure.

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with recent (last 6–12 months) hands-on platform or DevX work.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with AI/agent tooling beyond process automation or code-review assistance — this is the line that separates a real Staff-level DevEx candidate from a strong platform generalist. Concretely, we're looking for: a primary dev environment built around a coding-agent app (e.g., Codex, Claude Code) that you run on both desktop and mobile, agent sessions you keep running continuously rather than one-off, and the ability to speak in depth about orchestrating more than one agent against real work — not just occasional prompt engineering or asking an agent to draft a spec from a brief.
  • Experience shipping CI/CD pipelines, build systems, internal developer portals, or test automation platforms in production, at a scope consistent with “large, potentially distributed systems.”
  • Practical fluency with containerization/orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker) and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
  • Comfort operating independently on a small team — you're expected to see and plan around disruptions, not just react to them.

Preferred Experience

  • Some direct exposure to coding-agent-runtime work, even partial — the strongest differentiator against other Staff-level platform candidates.
  • Experience where AI-agent adoption was a team or org push you helped drive, not just something you did solo — and where the work is current (roughly the last 3 months), not a project you haven't touched in over a year.
  • Experience with compliance-sensitive workflows, change management systems, or policy engines.
