Technical lead individual contributor who architects and delivers complex cross-team, customer-facing product initiatives. Partners with Product, Design, and Data to translate ambiguous problems into scalable solutions, raise engineering standards through code review and mentorship, address technical debt and performance, and influence roadmap and technical strategy.
We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join one of our product engineering teams at Included Health. Reporting the Director Engineering, this is a technical lead individual contributor role focused on driving technical strategy, elevating engineering standards, and delivering high-impact, user-facing solutions at scale.
As a Staff Engineer, you will operate across team boundaries to shape architecture, influence technical direction, and partner closely with Product, Design, and Data to build experiences that meaningfully improve member outcomes. You will be hands-on in the code while also setting the bar for quality, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team product initiatives
- Partner with Product and Design to translate ambiguous problem spaces into scalable technical solutions
- Establish and evolve architectural patterns that support growth and reliability
- Raise the engineering bar through thoughtful code reviews, mentorship, and technical guidance
- Identify and proactively address technical debt, performance issues, and systemic risks
- Influence roadmap decisions with a strong product and systems mindset
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 7+ years with software development in a growth-focused role
- Proven experience operating at a Staff level within a product-focused engineering organization
- Strong backend or full-stack technical depth, with a track record of delivering customer-facing systems at scale
- Ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic technical leadership
- Experience driving cross-functional alignment across engineering, product, and design
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially in ambiguous or high-stakes situations
- A bias toward ownership, outcomes, and long-term impact

Pay:
The United States new hire base salary target ranges for this full-time position are:
Zone A: $174,320-$246,230 + equity + benefits
Zone B: $191,752-$270,853 + equity + benefits
Zone C: $209,184-$295,476 + equity + benefits
Zone D: $226,616-$320,099 + equity + benefits

Starting base salary for you will depend on several job-related factors, unique to each candidate, which may include education; training; skills; years and depth of experience; certifications and licensure; our needs; internal peer equity; organizational considerations; and understanding of geographic and market data. Compensation structures and ranges are tailored to each zone's unique market conditions to ensure that all employees receive fair and great compensation package based on their roles and locations.
