Role Overview

We are seeking a high-ownership Strategic Finance Lead to help build the financial backbone of Frontera as we scale across healthcare services, technology, and emerging health-system business models.

This role sits at the intersection of strategic finance, accounting oversight, revenue visibility, and business partnership. The right person will bring strong financial modeling and business analysis skills, healthcare business model fluency, and enough accounting depth to ensure our financial reporting is accurate, explainable, and decision-useful.

You will partner closely with Finance, Operations, Product, Commercial, and Clinical leadership to improve forecasting, revenue and margin visibility, unit economics, and operating decision-making across Frontera’s hybrid services + technology model.

This is a high-leverage finance role for someone who can operate close to the business, build scalable finance infrastructure, and help leadership understand what is driving performance across a complex healthcare + AI operating model.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership

  • Partner with Finance and executive leadership to build and maintain financial models that support operating decisions, scenario planning, board reporting, and investor-facing narratives
  • Analyze performance across Frontera’s healthcare services, technology, direct-to-parent, and commercial partnership models
  • Translate financial and operational data into clear insights for leaders across Operations, Product, Commercial, and Clinical teams
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, headcount planning, margin analysis, pricing analysis, and ROI analysis for strategic initiatives
  • Help define the financial metrics that matter most for each business line, including revenue growth, utilization, payer mix, gross margin, contribution margin, operating leverage, and unit economics
  • Serve as a strong business partner to functional leaders by bringing analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and practical recommendations
  • Help leadership identify where performance is improving, where the model is breaking down, and what actions are needed to improve results

Revenue, Margin & Business Model Visibility

  • Build clean, consistent reporting across multiple revenue models, including:
    • B2B SaaS / platform contracts
    • Direct-to-consumer subscriptions and payments
    • Clinical services revenue, including Medicaid, commercial payers, and private pay
    • Health-system, enterprise, or partnership-based models as Frontera expands
  • Develop clear views of revenue quality, gross margin, contribution margin, and unit economics across services, tech, and hybrid business lines
  • Partner with Payor Ops, Clinical Operations, Commercial, and Product teams to improve revenue visibility and resolve key financial reporting issues
  • Support analysis of payer mix, service line performance, utilization, pricing, collections, and margin improvement opportunities
  • Build reporting that helps leaders understand performance by product, payer, customer type, region, and business segment
  • Help connect operational drivers to financial outcomes so the business can make faster, better decisions

Accounting Oversight & Financial Reporting

  • Own and/or oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, partnering with internal and external accounting resources to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
  • Ensure financial statements, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, prepaids, deferred revenue, and key accounting judgments are accurate and explainable
  • Maintain a strong understanding of accounting details while elevating financial reporting into clear business insight
  • Partner with external accountants, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders on compliance, tax filings, audit readiness, and diligence support
  • Ensure accounting processes scale appropriately as Frontera grows across multiple entities, revenue streams, and business models
  • Build trust in the numbers without adding unnecessary complexity or slowing down the business

Systems, Process & Finance Infrastructure

  • Improve financial reporting processes, billing workflows, documentation, and internal controls
  • Partner with tech, operations, clinical, commercial, and payor operations teams to improve source data quality and ensure financial reporting reflects business reality
  • Identify and implement automation, tooling, and AI-enabled workflow improvements where ROI is clear and the business need is real
  • Use modern tools to reduce manual reporting work, improve data accuracy, and make financial insights easier for leaders to access and act on
  • Help build scalable reporting infrastructure that can support multiple revenue models, entities, and operating teams
  • Establish practical internal controls appropriate for a Series A-stage company operating in regulated healthcare environments
  • Support audit readiness, investor diligence, board reporting, and financial data requests

What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months

  • Leadership has a clear, trusted view of performance across services, technology, direct-to-parent, and partnership business models
  • Revenue and margin reporting is clean, explainable, and useful for operating decisions
  • Monthly close is completed on a reliable timeline, with clear explanations of key variances and business drivers
  • Finance becomes a stronger business partner to Operations, Product, Commercial, and Clinical leadership
  • Key operating decisions are supported by timely financial analysis, clear recommendations, and strong judgment
  • Frontera has better visibility into unit economics, payer mix, utilization, gross margin, contribution margin, and operating leverage
  • Financial reporting, accounting processes, and internal controls are credible for board reporting, investor diligence, and future audit readiness
  • The finance function is viewed not just as a reporting function, but as a strategic operating partner to the business

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity for executive, operational, and cross-functional audiences
  • High ownership, high judgment, and comfort operating in ambiguity
  • Strong operator mindset, with willingness to move between strategy, analysis, process-building, and hands-on execution

  • Experience at a high-growth startup, especially Seed through Series B
  • Experience with hybrid business models that combine services, software, data, marketplace, payer, provider, or enterprise revenue streams
  • Exposure to investor materials, board reporting, fundraising support, M&A, or strategic planning
  • Experience partnering with operators to drive margin improvement, revenue quality, utilization, pricing, payer mix, or growth decisions
