Lead and mentor a team of Data Analysts to own regional data strategy and quality across web and mobile products. Partner with product, engineering, and commercial teams to deliver insights, improve tools, automate workflows, and drive product and user growth.

At Citymapper (a Via company), we’re on a mission to help make complex cities more accessible to everyday users. Our application transports millions of people in hundreds of cities around the world by giving them access to the most current and sophisticated transportation options available. We make getting around your favourite city easy, so that you can enjoy the ride.

As Strategy & Operations Lead at Citymapper, you will lead a talented team of Analysts, the driving force behind Citymapper's data quality. This is a hands-on, leadership-first role: you'll coach and develop your team, jump in to remove blockers, and build the conditions for them to do their best work. Sitting at the intersection of product, engineering, and commercial, you will keep the team focused on what the business needs — and make sure the work doesn't stop at data quality, but feeds into how Citymapper improves and grows.

About the Role

  • Lead a high-performing team of Data Analysts, setting a high bar for data quality, mentorship, and continuous improvement
  • Own the data strategy and quality for your region across Citymapper’s web and mobile products, ensuring millions of users can rely on us every day
  • Partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to support product development, delivery, customer success, and user growth
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve tools, automate workflows, and build scalable systems that grow with the business
  • Turn complex datasets into actionable insights that guide decisions and drive improvements across the product

Who You Are

  • An experienced people leader: you know how to motivate, give good feedback, and create an environment where people do their best work
  • You bring at least 4 years of experience in an operational, technical, or generalist role — someone who's used to juggling competing priorities, working across functions, and finding a way forward even when the path isn't obvious
  • Technically comfortable: you can engage with data and product work, dive into new topics, and earn your team's trust without needing to be the most technical person in the room
  • Strong project management skills: you keep a lot of moving parts organised without losing sight of the details.
  • A clear communicator who builds trust quickly across functions: equally at ease in an engineering discussion as a commercial one.
  • Bonus points if you have experience working with data, Python, and/or common transit data formats (GTFS, TransXChange, SIRI, HAFAS, etc.), but it’s not a must. Curiosity and the drive to learn will always matter more to us than matching every line of the job spec.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $85,000-$115,000. Total compensation also includes equity. Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • We are proud to offer a generous and comprehensive benefits package, including free medical plans and 401K matching.

There has never been a more exciting time to be on the cutting edge of public mobility. Ready to join the ride?
