We’re proud to be backed by world-class investors who share that vision, including a16z, Accel, Bain Capital Ventures, Coatue, and Index Ventures, along with many others.

We’re an in-office company, driven by a shared commitment to excellence and velocity. Our values — Just Get It Done, Invent What Customers Want, Winner’s Mindset, and The Polymath Principle — shape how we work and grow as a team.

About the Team

The Accounting team owns the numbers at a rapidly scaling startup. We ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP while designing scalable processes and strong controls that support expansion across teams and geographies. Partnering closely with Sales, People, Legal, and Operations, we drive thoughtful spend management, contract oversight, and operational excellence, balancing precision with agility in a fast-moving environment where our work directly enables the company's next stage of growth.

About the Role

We're looking for a technically strong Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager to own complex, non-routine accounting matters as Decagon scales. This is a high-impact individual contributor role for someone who thrives on solving thorny GAAP questions, revenue recognition, business combinations, and stock-based compensation among them, and can turn them into clear, well-documented conclusions the business can act on. You'll partner closely with Legal, Sales, Founders Office, Revenue Operations, and Finance to help dictate and guide deal structure and pricing strategy before new products and deals go to market while helping build the technical accounting infrastructure, policies, memos, and controls that a fast-growing, pre-IPO company needs.

In this role, you will

  • Own technical accounting positions under U.S. GAAP for complex transactions, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), business combinations (ASC 805), and stock-based compensation (ASC 718), with audit-ready memos behind every conclusion

  • Review non-standard customer contracts with Legal, Sales, Founders Office, Revenue Operations, and Finance, and get the revenue treatment right on new products and pricing before they are rolled out

  • Own equity and stock-based compensation accounting, including 409A and award valuations with external specialists, plus M&A and financing activity as it comes up

  • Build Decagon's technical accounting policies from the ground up that hold up as we scale

  • Drive conclusions with external auditors and technical consultants, and raise the rigor of external reporting as we approach IPO readiness

  • Track new accounting standards and tell leadership what they mean for us, in plain terms

Your background looks something like this

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent designation preferred

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a combination of Big 4/public accounting and industry experience at a high-growth technology or SaaS company

  • Deep, hands-on technical accounting expertise in ASC 606, 805 and 718, with demonstrated experience drafting memos on complex, non-routine transactions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical accounting conclusions for non-finance stakeholders

  • A self-starter who's comfortable owning ambiguous, high-stakes problems independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Even better if you have

  • Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842), capitalized software (ASC 350-40), or debt and equity instruments (ASC 480)

  • Familiarity with ERP and financial reporting tools

  • Experience using AI and automation tools to accelerate technical accounting research, memo drafting, or audit support

Compensation
$180K - $220K + Equity

Benefits

We proudly offer the following benefits for our full-time employees:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits for you and your family

  • Life Insurance and Disability Benefits

  • Retirement Plan (e.g., 401K, pension)

  • Parental Leave

  • Fertility and family building benefits through Carrot

  • Monthly stipend to support your wellness, lifestyle, and work-life balance

  • Daily lunches and snacks in the office to keep you at your best

  • Take what you need vacation policy (subject to local requirements; UK employees receive 25 days of statutory leave)

These benefits are described in more detail in Decagon’s policies, may vary by location, and can change at any time according to applicable compensation and benefits plans.
