This is a remote position.
We are seeking to fill the position of Wireless Power Transfer Software Engineer.
Purpose
Reporting to the General Manager the successful candidate will conduct the following duties:
· The successful candidate will research advanced electromagnetics and power electronics for high-power wireless charging systems for electric vehicles.
· Will be capable of performing high-fidelity finite element analysis, modeling, simulation, and design of wireless charging systems and work in the modeling, simulation.
· Design, and characterization of high-power compensation networks, power electronics systems, resonant circuits, inverters, rectifiers, and electric vehicle charging systems.
Major Duties / Responsibilities
- Conduct the company’s projects and help with the expansion to take advantage of our multidisciplinary capabilities, multimodal strengths, and unique tools and capabilities.
- Be familiar with state of the art in high-power magnetics, resonant circuit, and power electronics technologies. Be well versed in various modeling and simulation programs.
- Perform electromagnetic and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) based designs and optimizations for high-power high-frequency magnetics, especially focusing on wireless charging systems for electric vehicles.
- Capable of carrying designs through prototype building and evaluation.
- Network and develop collaboration with other groups and divisions internally and with the industry, and the automotive and charging system.
- Prior experience in high-power wireless charging systems is preferred.
- Prepare new proposals to the internal and external funding agencies.
- Have excellent oral and written skills for preparing and presenting research results to sponsors, peer reviewers, industry partners, and others and at technical meetings such as sponsored conferences.
Requirements
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in electrical engineering with a focus on electromagnetics and power electronics.
- Experience with advanced magnetics, magnetic materials and geometries, and power semiconductor technologies, and their applications.
- Experience in high-fidelity finite element modeling and simulations of electromagnetic systems.
- Knowledge of high-power resonant circuit design and simulation software tools is desired.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to make presentations to sponsors and others and to prepare reports, proposals, and publications/journal articles.
- Strong interpersonal skills to support team building and leadership.
- Publication history in prestigious international conferences and journals.
- The demonstrated publication record of scientific results in either peer-reviewed journals or presentations at national meetings is expected.
- Prior work experience with the automotive industry will be valued for this position.
- A strong commitment to scientific integrity is an important requirement.
