GDP is a creative marketing agency in San Francisco. We combine strategy, editorial, design, and advertising to help ambitious companies turn big ideas into market momentum. We're looking for a Copywriter to join our team.

We're looking for a conceptual and collaborative creative with a passion for advertising, writing, and storytelling. The ideal candidate creates strong, strategically grounded ideas and copy across a range of formats, partnering closely with art directors, strategists, and senior creative leaders to turn strategy into compelling, polished creative work.

This role sits primarily within our advertising practice, where you'll help shape integrated campaigns for some of the world's leading technology brands. You'll work across brand campaigns, social, digital, video, editorial, live events, and emerging platforms—translating complex or technical subject matter into clear, compelling, accessible, and emotionally resonant language. You'll collaborate closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Strategists, and Producers, and play an active role in presenting and discussing work with clients.

This is a hybrid role (in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) in San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with art directors to develop and execute integrated advertising campaigns across digital, social, video, editorial, experiential, and brand channels.
  • Contribute original ideas, strong concepts, and copy from brief through execution, bringing sharp messaging and creative problem-solving to every stage of the process.
  • Write with clarity, originality, precision, and a deep understanding of audience, adapting voice and tone across clients, industries, and formats.
  • Present work internally and to clients with confidence, clearly articulating the creative rationale and strategic thinking behind ideas and executions.
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors to refine concepts, incorporate feedback, and ensure a consistently high standard of creative excellence.
  • Work effectively across campaign, brand, digital, social, video, and editorial projects while managing your own assignments, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Contribute positively to team culture, brainstorms, and constructive creative critiques as a generous, dependable partner.
  • Use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate ideation, generate reference materials, prototype quickly, and explore new creative possibilities while maintaining a high standard of craft.
  • Stay curious about emerging trends in advertising, technology, culture, and language, bringing new ideas and references to the work.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of demonstrated professional copywriting experience in an advertising, branding, or marketing agency environment.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong conceptual thinking, narrative storytelling, and exceptional writing craft across multiple formats.
  • Experience developing integrated campaigns in partnership with art directors and visual designers.
  • Work with high-impact B2B and B2C clients across categories, often with a focus on technology, innovation, and creating a better future.
  • Strong copywriting fundamentals, including concepting, headline writing, long-form narrative, campaign messaging, and voice development.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex, technical, or abstract ideas into compelling, accessible language.
  • Highly collaborative, resourceful, and comfortable managing deadlines in a fast-paced, agency environment.
  • Proactive mindset with a desire to seek feedback, iterate, and continuously develop conceptual and writing skills.
  • Experience with AI writing and ideation tools, as well as AI-assisted workflows.
