Overview

The Licensing Strategy team leads the evolution and modernization of our commercial business and licensing strategies to shape how our field, partners, and customers engage with our commercial experience.  We foster an inclusive and diverse culture of individuals who can grow their careers in a supportive environment.

This is an opportunity to combine strategic business planning with building commercial systems. You will lead through influence, mentor staff, and bring clarity, technical judgment, and disciplined execution to an ambitious Commercial Intelligence roadmap.

As the Director of Business Planning & Commercial Intelligence, you will shape and scale the internal intelligence platform that helps Microsoft teams navigate complex commercial policy and licensing decisions. You will own the Commercial Intelligence vision, strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end experience, beginning with Licensing Navigator and expanding into broader commercial knowledge domains. Working closely with Engineering, you will help shape AI-powered experiences that leverage Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), grounding and retrieval, and agent-based capabilities to transform complex commercial knowledge into accurate, trustworthy, and actionable intelligence. You will translate user and business needs into prioritized product requirements, align senior stakeholders across Business Planning, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Commercial Operations, and Sales, and drive execution from discovery through launch, adoption, and continuous improvement. Success requires a combination of strategic business thinking, product leadership, technical judgment, executive influence, and the ability to operate independently in a highly ambiguous and rapidly evolving AI environment.
