Happen Bank (formerly LendingClub) is built around a simple purpose: to clear the way to help people turn intention into action, and action into financial progress. That means offering focused products, a frictionless mobile-first experience, and clear terms with no gotchas. Respect and fairness is part of our DNA, and that ideal shapes how we work, how we treat each other, and how we invest in our employees and our community. Join us in using data, bold thinking, and a commitment to innovation to help clear the way for millions of Americans to achieve more.

About the Role

As the Financial Innovation Manager for Consumer Lending, you will help shape the next generation of our lending products. Your focus will be developing new, digitally originated lending products and variants, from personal loan innovation to other emerging opportunities, that grow demand from new and existing members. You will design, test, and refine these products from early concept to market.

What You'll Do

  • Drive new lending products through the product development lifecycle (PDLC), from strategy and business case to a member-first pilot in the small-dollar range
  • Design a fast, low-doc digital origination experience from application to funding, and improve the conversion and pull-through that turns eligible members into funded loans
  • Partner with Credit and Risk to combine permissioned cash-flow data, credit, identity, and fraud signals into a low-friction, low-doc credit decision
  • Design fit-for-purpose decisioning paths for new or underserved segments, with the right identity, verification, and approval waterfall
  • Design and test new personal loan variants and promotions that meet broader customer needs and grow demand from new and existing members
  • Define the metrics that matter, from approval and conversion to funding speed, losses, member experience, and unit economics, and use experimentation against a control to decide what scales
  • Develop the business case, pricing, and product economics, set the pilot gates that must clear before scaling, and monitor early portfolio performance
  • Run diligence on the vendor and platform stack and coordinate delivery across Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Finance, using AI to speed up research, analysis, and drafting while keeping fair lending, compliance, and human judgment central to lending decisions

About You

  • 3+ years of experience in consumer or small business lending, fintech, or financial services product and strategy, plus a bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A track record of bringing digital, direct-to-consumer lending products to market and growing them, ideally installment or term loans originated fully online
  • Direct experience in small business lending, especially with owner-operated and sole-proprietor borrowers
  • Hands-on with cash-flow underwriting from bank transaction data, a solid grasp of credit risk fundamentals, and comfort turning data into decisions with tools like SQL and Excel
  • Comfortable running a product across its full lifecycle, from customer insight and business case to experimentation, measurement against a control, and a clear go or no-go
  • Working knowledge of the rules that shape lending, including fair lending, TILA, ECOA, and consumer-protection and data-privacy requirements
  • Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS), open-banking and bank-data providers, and fraud, decisioning, or servicing platforms
  • You execute independently on scoped work, use sound judgment on credit, fraud, and compliance tradeoffs, and communicate clearly with stakeholders
  • You actively look for ways AI can speed up research, analysis, and drafting, and you understand how AI and ML models interact with credit decisions, including their limits, staying skeptical of outputs you can't explain

Nice to Have

  • Experience bringing a new lending product from concept to pilot
  • Experience developing or scaling a digital small business or embedded lending product
  • Experience improving a digital origination funnel and application-to-funding conversion
  • Experience owning pricing or growth targets for a lending product
  • Experience at a fintech or digital-first lender that ships fast without giving up credit rigor
