About the Role

We're looking for a Head of Competitive Intelligence to build and lead a world-class competitive intelligence function. This person will transform market signals into strategic advantage by developing the frameworks, analysis, and insights that inform our product strategy, go-to-market approach, and executive decision-making.

This is not a research role. It's a highly cross-functional strategy role that sits at the intersection of Product, GTM, Research, and Leadership. You'll establish the systems, operating cadence, and analytical rigor that help the company understand where we win, where we're vulnerable, and how the market is evolving.

What You'll Do

  • Build and own the company's competitive intelligence strategy and operating model.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive competitive assessments, including Harvey Ball analyses, feature matrices, product comparisons, pricing analyses, and market landscape reviews.

  • Create executive-ready competitive insights that influence product strategy, roadmap prioritization, pricing, and investment decisions.

  • Build best-in-class objection handling and competitive messaging for Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Partnerships.

  • Monitor competitor product launches, model releases, acquisitions, partnerships, pricing changes, funding, and GTM motions, synthesizing complex information into clear strategic recommendations.

  • Establish repeatable processes and tooling for collecting, validating, and distributing competitive intelligence across the company.

  • Partner closely with Product Management to inform roadmap decisions and identify areas of strategic differentiation.

  • Collaborate with Marketing to sharpen positioning and messaging based on competitive dynamics.

  • Support executive leadership with board-ready competitive analyses and market briefings.

  • Build dashboards and reporting that track competitive movements and emerging industry trends.

  • Develop frameworks that evaluate competitors across capabilities, enterprise readiness, developer experience, ecosystem, security, and customer value—not just feature parity.

What We're Looking For:

  • 15+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, strategy consulting, product strategy, corporate strategy, or a similar analytical role.

  • Experience building a competitive intelligence function from the ground up.

  • Exceptional analytical and structured thinking skills with the ability to distill complex markets into clear frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise software, AI platforms, SaaS, or cloud technologies.

  • Experience producing executive-facing strategic analyses and recommendations.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.

  • Ability to synthesize quantitative data, qualitative research, customer feedback, and market intelligence into actionable insights.

  • Experience partnering across Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Executive teams.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment where competitive landscapes evolve rapidly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in AI, machine learning, foundation models, or developer platforms.

  • Familiarity with benchmarking methodologies, win/loss programs, and competitive positioning frameworks.

  • Experience supporting enterprise sales organizations with battlecards and competitive enablement.

  • Background in management consulting or strategic planning.

Success in This Role:

  • Built a trusted competitive intelligence function that informs company strategy.

  • Established a single source of truth for competitive analyses and market insights.

  • Created executive dashboards and recurring competitive reviews that shape product and GTM decisions.

  • Enabled Sales and Marketing with best-in-class competitive content that improves win rates.

  • Helped leadership identify emerging market opportunities and competitive risks before they become obvious.

You'll thrive in this role if you're intellectually curious, highly analytical, and able to connect disparate signals into compelling strategic narratives. You enjoy building systems from scratch, influencing without authority, and helping an organization make better decisions through deep understanding of the competitive landscape.
