Microsoft Advertising is seeking a strategic leader to help shape the future of regulatory readiness, trust, safety, and operational excellence across a rapidly evolving global ecosystem.   

As the Principal Customer Solutions Architect, Ads Regulatory Compliance, you will operate at the intersection of product, engineering, policy, legal, operations, and business strategy to translate emerging regulatory requirements into scalable frameworks, governance models, and solution architectures. You will help the organization navigate ambiguity, anticipate future requirements, and build durable capabilities that enable innovation while maintaining customer trust and regulatory resilience.

This is a highly visible role requiring exceptional systems thinking, creative problem solving, and the ability to connect disparate teams around a common vision. You will help establish foundational approaches that support long-term compliance readiness, trust and safety outcomes, operational scalability, and platform integrity across global markets.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.


Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of strategic frameworks that translate evolving regulatory, legal, policy, and trust requirements into scalable operational and technical solutions.
  • Partner across Product, Engineering, CELA, Trust & Safety, Operations, Data Science, Business Planning, and Executive Leadership to drive alignment on complex cross-functional initiatives. 
  • Design and mature governance models, readiness frameworks, risk taxonomies, decision processes, and operating mechanisms that improve organizational consistency and regulatory preparedness. 
  • Identify emerging regulatory trends, industry developments, and market risks, helping leaders proactively prepare for future requirements and opportunities.
  • Drive cross-organizational programs that require balancing customer experience, business outcomes, platform capabilities, operational scalability, risk management, and regulatory obligations. 
  • Develop executive-level narratives, recommendations, decision frameworks, and strategic roadmaps to support organizational investment and prioritization decisions. 
  • Create durable mechanisms for regulatory intake, prioritization, implementation planning, readiness reviews, measurement, and continuous improvement. 
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior stakeholders by simplifying complex problems and helping organizations navigate uncertainty with confidence. 
  • Build solid partnerships across regional and global teams to ensure solutions are scalable, adaptable, and aligned to diverse market requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technical program/product management, coding, software development/delivery work
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of customer-facing experience.
  • 1+ year(s) people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field AND 12+ years experience in technical program/product management, coding, software development/delivery work or internship experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of customer-facing experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience.
  • Several years of experience leading large-scale cross-functional programs involving multiple organizations, stakeholders, and executive sponsors.
  • Experience driving strategy, governance, compliance, trust & safety, risk management, platform operations, policy implementation, or related domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions without direct authority across engineering, business, legal, and operational organizations.
  • Experience operating in ambiguous environments and building structure, clarity, and execution plans where no established framework exists.
  • Solid executive communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to translate business objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer needs into actionable plans and scalable solutions.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries, digital platforms, online services, advertising technology, trust & safety, privacy, fraud prevention, AI governance, or compliance-related domains.
  • Experience designing operating models, governance structures, risk frameworks, or organizational decision processes.
  • Experience partnering with legal, policy, regulatory, or public affairs organizations.
  • Solid systems-thinking mindset with the ability to identify interdependencies across product, engineering, operations, customer experience, and business processes.
  • Demonstrated success leading strategic initiatives involving regulatory ambiguity, emerging technology, or industry transformation.
  • Experience developing executive reviews, business cases, investment proposals, and organizational strategy documents.
  • Passion for solving complex societal, regulatory, trust, and safety challenges while enabling innovation and growth.

Customer Solutions Architecture M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
