About the company
Our client is a fast-growing software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the server-side layer of a software platform, taking work from early design through production release. Guide technical decisions for key components, support more junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to turn loosely defined goals into clear engineering plans.
What you'll do
- Build and release backend services, taking responsibility for the full path from how data arrives and is stored to interfaces, asynchronous jobs and release setup.
- Design reliable processing workflows that stay dependable when inputs are inconsistent or unpredictable.
- Write automated tests and quality checks so that changes can be released with confidence.
- Decide the direction and roadmap for your area, balancing cleanup of older code against delivering new capability.
- Apply sound access control and data protection practices across the services you own.
- Work with product managers, designers and UI engineers to scope new work and convert vague requests into actionable technical plans.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- At least 4 years of experience building and releasing robust production backend systems, with clear ownership of architecture.
- A record of creating foundational services that other engineers depend on in live environments.
- Experience shipping new features to production and troubleshooting them at scale.
- Confidence setting technical direction for important components instead of only following detailed specifications.
- Flexibility to contribute beyond the backend, while spending the large majority of time on server-side work.
- Ability to work on-site in the office 4 days each week.
Bonus points
- Background spanning both established larger organizations and fast-paced startups.
- Prior experience as a founder or early engineer at a young company.
- A degree in computer science or a similarly technical discipline.
- Everyday use of modern developer tools to work faster.
- A track record of coaching junior engineers and raising team standards through feedback and documentation.
