Via is on a mission to create public transportation systems that provide far greater access to jobs, healthcare, and education. Our platform serves as the technology backbone for modern transit networks, transforming antiquated and siloed public transportation systems into smart, data-driven, and efficient digital networks. With hundreds of agency partners around the world, Via is recognized as the leading transportation technology and service provider globally.

As a Senior Product Designer, Remix Planning at Via, you’ll help shape the future of Remix, our industry-leading transit planning & scheduling platform used by hundreds of transit agencies around the world, to design and deliver better public transportation. You’ll join a collaborative, mission-driven team tackling some of the most complex challenges in transportation, where great design directly influences how cities plan service for millions of riders. This is an opportunity to have broad product impact while helping define the next generation of tools for public transit.

**NOTE: This position follows a hybrid model, requiring 2–3 days per week on-site in either our New York City or San Francisco office**

About the Role:

  • Lead the end-to-end design of complex planning workflows that help transit agencies design, evaluate, and evolve fixed-route and demand-responsive transit networks serving millions of riders worldwide.
  • Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and transit professionals to transform transportation planning challenges into intuitive, map-based experiences customers rely on every day.
  • Drive product direction from early discovery through launch by conducting customer research, exploring concepts, prototyping ideas, and translating insights into polished, production-ready experiences.
  • Shape the future of Remix’s planning platform by identifying opportunities that span products, creating long-term experience visions, and influencing roadmap decisions with user-centered thinking.
  • Design sophisticated workflows for enterprise users, balancing technical constraints, data-rich interfaces, and powerful functionality without sacrificing usability or craft.
  • Raise the quality bar across the product through thoughtful interaction design, strong visual execution, design critiques, and meaningful contributions to our design system.

About You:

Experience & Skills

  • 7+ years designing complex SaaS, enterprise, or professional software products, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership from discovery through launch.
  • Strong systems thinker with the ability to simplify ambiguous, information-dense workflows into intuitive product experiences.
  • Exceptional interaction and visual design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating thoughtful wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-quality product experiences.
  • Comfortable using research, data, and experimentation to inform product direction while balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.

Ways of Working

  • You thrive in highly collaborative environments, partnering closely with product managers, engineers, and customers to solve challenging problems together.
  • You communicate design rationale clearly, seek feedback early, and help elevate the work of those around you through thoughtful critique and mentorship.
  • You’re naturally curious, proactive, and comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking ownership of problems rather than waiting for direction.
  • You’re excited to explore emerging AI-powered design tools and workflows and are curious about how AI can accelerate design exploration, prototyping, and collaboration while maintaining a high bar for craft.

Compensation and Benefits (US only)

  • Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable.
  • Salary Range: $175,000-$200,000
  • We are proud to offer a generous and comprehensive benefits package, including free medical plans, 401K matching, catered lunch on Wednesdays, and many other perks.

There has never been a more exciting time to be on the cutting edge of public mobility. Ready to join the ride?
