About Mimecast

The work people build is worth protecting, and it's harder to protect than it used to be. AI agents now move at machine speed with human-level access, and a small slip-up can become a very public one. We disrupt cybercriminal activity before that happens. We think fast, go big, and always demand more of ourselves. We work hard, deliver, and repeat. We grow with real determination and put success well within reach. We push each other to be better and expect to be pushed back, in a community built on respect, where everyone is counted. Work Protected.

Overview

As a Senior Sales Engineer, you’ll own the technical strategy and execution across complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise opportunities in North America. This is a senior, customer- and partner-facing role where you’ll lead proof-of-value engagements, present to executive audiences, and act as a technical mentor to junior Sales Engineers across the region.

Channel is central to how Mimecast scales in North America, so a strong track record of enabling and selling through distribution and reseller partners is essential. You’ll be supported by regional Sales Engineering leadership while also being looked to as a source of technical and commercial judgment for the team. This position reports to a Manager, Sales Engineering.

What You'll Do
  • Own the technical strategy for complex, multi-product enterprise opportunities, from discovery and proof of value through technical close.

  • Deliver executive-level presentations and demonstrations to IT, security, and business stakeholders.

  • Partner with Account Executives and Account Managers to build deal strategy, qualify opportunities, and align solutions to customer outcomes.

  • Lead and scope proof-of-value engagements tied to defined success criteria, including complex or strategic deployments.

  • Mentor and coach junior Sales Engineers on technical depth, deal strategy, and presentation skills.

  • Support RFP, RFI, and tender responses with accuracy and commercial awareness.

  • Enable channel and distribution partners through joint selling, technical enablement sessions, and partner-facing content.

  • Maintain timely and accurate opportunity and proof-of-value notes in Salesforce.

  • Contribute to field marketing activities, including webinars, events, and thought leadership.

What You'll Bring
  • Extensive experience as a Sales Engineer or Solutions Engineer, operating autonomously across complex enterprise opportunities, ideally within a cybersecurity or SaaS vendor.

  • Demonstrated experience enabling and selling through channel and distribution partners.

  • Hands-on technical knowledge across data protection, insider risk, email security, and related domains.

  • Experience working with large or strategic enterprise accounts and navigating multi-stakeholder sales cycles.

  • Strong presentation, demonstration, and written communication skills, including the ability to engage executive audiences.

  • Awareness of the competitive security landscape and the ability to position solutions effectively against alternatives.

  • Proven ability to lead and close complex, multi-stakeholder proof-of-value engagements.

  • Familiarity with AI tools, such as Claude, to support day-to-day work.

  • Willingness to travel based on business needs, including partner enablement, customer and prospect meetings, and marketing events.

The on-target earnings (OTE) range for this position is 200,000 - 300,000 USD (OTE) plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations.
