About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

As a Strategic Deals Lead, you will help shape Anthropic's long-term approach to AI infrastructure, compute capacity, and strategic ecosystem partnerships, and you will originate, structure, negotiate, and close the deals that put that strategy into effect. Within Cloud Compute, you will build and manage Anthropic's relationships across the emerging compute ecosystem to identify and execute opportunities that expand access to the infrastructure required to train and serve frontier AI systems.

The compute market is fast-moving and structurally complex. Providers vary widely in scale, financial structure, and commercial model, and increasingly involve a variety of strategic partners. In this role, you will build and develop expertise across the relevant ecosystem players, commercial constructs and market standards, and the interplay between infrastructure and financing for scaling compute.

You will work closely with Anthropic's technical infrastructure, finance, and legal teams to source and evaluate opportunities, develop deal economics, structure financing, and ensure transactions align with Anthropic's compute strategy. We are looking for someone with prior relevant transaction experience who is comfortable building and executing on a broad, active pipeline independently from day one.

Key responsibilities
  • Build and manage a pipeline of capacity across the integrated compute ecosystem
  • Maintain and own executive level relationships with commercial, finance, and legal counterparts at providers across all stages of maturity
  • Lead the full deal lifecycle for capacity agreements, from initial engagement and relationship development through negotiation, structure, and close of transactions
  • Bring capital markets and finance expertise to transactions, developing frameworks for evaluating deal economics, counterparty risk, and the financing components of compute infrastructure
  • Partner with infrastructure and technical teams to translate compute requirements into commercial terms and long-term supply strategies across the provider ecosystem
  • Develop and maintain deep market intelligence on the emerging cloud and integrated compute landscape, including provider positioning, pricing dynamics, commercial model evolution, and the competitive dynamics shaping capacity access
  • Represent Anthropic externally with corporate executives, investment banks, and infrastructure investors involved in transactions
  • Drive internal alignment on transaction terms, risk parameters, and strategic priorities for Anthropic's compute supply
Minimum qualifications
  • Background in investment banking, private equity, or infrastructure investing, with direct experience in data center, cloud, or technology sector transactions
  • Personal track record of originating, structuring, and closing cloud capacity, data center, or infrastructure transactions as the commercial, financing, or investing principal
  • Deep familiarity with the compute ecosystem, including fluency in how different types of providers price and contract, how capacity commitments are structured, and how the integrated compute market operates
  • Working understanding of the financing and infrastructure requirements of compute infrastructure projects
Preferred qualifications
  • 8-10+ years of experience in investment banking, infrastructure investing, or principal finance roles with ownership of cloud, data center, or compute transactions
  • Experience managing multiple high-value transactions simultaneously at different stages of maturity and commercial development
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain senior-level relationships with counterparts at commercially sophisticated, capital-intensive organizations
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including the ability to build and pressure-test economics for large infrastructure projects
  • Comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where market structures, provider economics, and deal norms are still evolving
  • A genuine interest in the trajectory of AI infrastructure and in Anthropic's mission of building safe, beneficial AI

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Come work with us!
