The Basics:

As a Tanium Technical Support Engineer (TSE) Intern, you will support Tanium’s world-class customer organization, responsible for the satisfaction & retention of our enterprise customers, including the U.S. Department of Defense and over half the Fortune 100. With a primary focus on customer satisfaction, TSE work both reactively and proactively to improve the overall experience of Tanium customers. This includes serving our customers by resolving technical issues & answering technical questions in a timely manner. TSE interns experience this foundational role in our organization through 1:1 mentorship, team triaging efforts, & shadowing opportunities.   

This position follows the Company’s hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Bellevue, WA or Emeryville, CA

The hourly rate for this internship is $30.00. This hourly rate is an estimate for what Tanium will pay an intern. The actual rate offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, education, skills, training, and experience. In addition to an hourly rate, interns will be eligible for 401k matching and a monthly allowance for communications reimbursement. 

What you’ll do:

  • Work with a 1:1 mentor TSE as they take on real-world customer problems in security, operations, asset management, & risk management.  
  • Contribute to triaging technical issues, engaging with customers, and conducting root cause analysis on live production implementations of Tanium.  
  • Support efforts will encompass security (Forensics, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Incident Response), operations (Compliance, Vulnerability Scanning, Patching, Integrity Monitoring), & general automation. 
  • Assist customers with Tanium platform/module upgrades. 
  • Partner with other TSEs to assist with their assigned cases. 
  • Shape, execute & deliver special projects with your peer interns that directly impacts Tanium. 
  • Acquire a deep understanding of how the technology of our product works and how to support, operate & integrate it. 
  • Learn how to document best practices as well as track activity, document root causes, & complete accurate reports. 
  • Rigorously test our product in a home lab environment. 

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. now & in the future  
  • Availability to work full-time from June 7, 2027 – August 13, 2027 
  • Undergraduate student currently enrolled in a college or university 
  • Eligible graduation dates: December 2027 or Spring 2028
  • GPA of 3.5 or above 
  • Some experience with endpoints, networking or operating systems/servers 
  • Love for creating an amazing customer experience 
  • Can work independently with good judgement and attention to detail 
  • IT Helpdesk experience preferred  
  • Other experience working with customers is a plus
