Businesses face plenty of challenges developing their solutions and getting them into customers’ hands. For companies whose customers are other businesses, there’s the added task of implementing the APIs needed to offer seamless customer interactions. Merge hopes to make integration quick and easy with its Unified API solution.

Rather than having to develop and maintain a wide range of integrations for things like gathering HR data for recruiting and posting accounting transactions, Merge’s product enables developers to integrate one solution, one time. Its product grants customers access to APIs like Google Workspace, Greenhouse Software, QuickBooks, Jira and more.

One of Built In San Francisco’s Startups to Watch in 2022, Merge pulled in $55 million in Series B funding to grow its team. This latest round was led by Accel and brings Merge’s total funding to more than $75 million. Having steadily grown its annual recurring revenue over the past year, Merge serves more than 3,000 customers including TripActions, Ramp, Drata and Apollo, according to the company.

Having made headway in the enterprise SaaS sector, Merge announced a new offering for early-stage startups. The company expanded its Unified API solution to include a free tier for younger companies. This option allows startups to offer integrations to their first five business customers, and then it transitions to a flat monthly cost for the next 15.

This access to Merge’s solution was intended to help relieve pain points smaller businesses often face when building customer-facing APIs. Roadblocks like development costs, long-term maintenance requirements and lack of developer experience with each third-party solution complicate the process for companies of any size.

In addition to its revenue growth over the past 12 months, the company has also grown its solution. Merge currently offers tools for project, ticketing and customer relationship management alongside its APIs for applicant tracking, HR, payroll and accounting. It also added over 100 integrations to its offerings, totaling more than 150 SaaS apps.

“Our growth over the past year shows how much of a need there is in the market for Unified APIs that make building product integrations easier,” Shensi Ding Merge’s co-founder, said in a statement. “We’re really excited that now, with our free plan, startups can offer their first integrations no matter what size or scale they are.”

Merge’s momentum hasn’t slowed, so the company is prepared to build out its team. It’s hiring with a focus on research and development and go-to-market.
