Leads Gusto’s internal controls function across business process and IT controls. Builds the team and ICFR strategy, oversees risk assessment, control design, testing, remediation, governance, and external auditor relationships. Partners with Accounting, Finance, Product, Engineering, Data, Security, and Risk to embed scalable controls into complex systems and financial processes. Establishes AI-enabled controls practices and oversight for AI-related risks, while reporting program effectiveness to senior leadership and the Audit Committee.

Conduct complex enhanced due diligence and KYC investigations for high-risk customers and entities. Research adverse media, sanctions, PEPs, source of wealth and funds, beneficial ownership, and geographic or industry risks. Prepare investigative summaries and SARs, resolve escalated alerts, make risk-based onboarding and exit recommendations, validate AI-generated research, improve investigative workflows, and mentor junior analysts.

Conduct complex fraud investigations involving account takeover, business email compromise, identity theft, payment fraud, and social engineering. Analyze transaction, authentication, communication, and external intelligence data; document investigative narratives; prepare Unusual Activity Referrals; recommend risk-based remediation; support customer and fund recovery efforts; use AI-enabled tools; collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Data Science; and mentor junior analysts.

Leads Gusto’s Risk & Money Services organization, overseeing fraud and payment risk, BSA/AML operational response, Reg E disputes, collections, and consumer money products. Builds governance, controls, SLAs, metrics, audit readiness, and scalable operating procedures while partnering with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, sponsor banks, regulators, and auditors. Owns high-stakes financial decisions, customer experience, regulatory posture, team development, and AI-enabled transformation across Gusto’s financial services portfolio.
