The legal intern will support appellate advocacy and impact litigation by researching legal issues, investigating cases, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, and participating in litigation strategy meetings. The role may involve projects across criminal law and immigration, democracy, speech and technology, and special litigation. Interns will work closely with attorneys, ACLU staff, and coalition partners to advance civil rights and civil liberties.

Full-time summer interns support the ACLU’s Criminal Law & Immigration Project through legal and policy research, advocacy writing, court documents, pre-litigation demand letters, legislative campaigns, hearings, and litigation-related activities. Interns may work on prosecutorial and police accountability, decarceration, bail reform, indigent defense, and immigrants’ rights. Applicants must be enrolled in law school or a related graduate program and demonstrate strong research, writing, communication, and social justice commitments.

Supports the ACLU’s Criminal Law & Immigration Project through legal and policy research, analysis, advocacy materials, court documents, pre-litigation demand letters, and legislative or local campaigns. May participate in hearings, court proceedings, depositions, appellate arguments, and strategy meetings. Work focuses on prosecutorial and police accountability, decarceration, bail reform, indigent defense, and immigrants’ rights.
