Assist with Hardware-in-the-Loop and flight testing across Zipline’s autonomous delivery systems. Build and improve automated testing pipelines, stress-test off-nominal scenarios, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, execute validation plans, and develop Python or Rust tools for testing workflows. The intern will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to validate reliability, safety, and quality in complex systems.

Develop and validate electromagnetic models for propulsion and auxiliary motors used in autonomous aircraft. Build reusable motor-modeling frameworks, performance maps, loss models, design-space datasets, and reduced-order models. Integrate motor models with inverters, batteries, thermal systems, propellers, controls, and aircraft mission models. Plan and execute dynamometer tests, analyze uncertainty, correlate simulations with hardware data, and optimize motors for efficiency, mass, torque density, reliability, thermal performance, acoustics, and cost.

Supports Zipline’s Supply Chain Business Operations team through supply chain research, program management, reporting, business intelligence, process improvement, digital workflow development, and KPI tools. The intern will analyze data, identify operational and cost-efficiency opportunities, develop strategies, create software enablement materials, and collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to improve supply continuity and supply chain performance.

Design, prototype, test, and validate mechanical and electromechanical systems for autonomous drone delivery. Interns develop concepts from engineering requirements, use 2D and 3D CAD, build prototypes and testers, evaluate materials and integrated products, investigate failures, collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams, and document design decisions. The role is full-time and in-person in South San Francisco or Dallas during Summer 2027.

Supports Zipline’s global supply chain through supplier performance tracking, purchase order and delivery analysis, reporting, sourcing research, quote collection, cost benchmarking, supply issue resolution, and process improvement. The intern will collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams, participate in supplier meetings and negotiations, and document scalable processes. The full-time internship is in-person at Zipline’s South San Francisco office during Summer 2027.

Supports global supply chain activities including supplier performance tracking, purchase order and delivery analysis, reporting, sourcing research, quote collection, cost benchmarking, supply issue resolution, process improvement, supplier meetings, and process documentation. Collaborates with supply managers, engineers, finance, and operations teams in an in-person internship focused on procurement, logistics, and global operations.

Supports journal entries, account reconciliations, financial close activities, reporting, data cleanup, and fixed asset accounting. The intern will collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Operations, country operations, and manufacturing teams while gaining exposure to international accounting processes. This is a full-time, in-person internship in South San Francisco from January through April 2027.

Lead supplier qualification and industrialization of electric motors for drones. Manage supplier readiness, APQP/PPAP/PFMEA/SPC activities, DFM/DFA reviews, validation, cost and quality improvements, manufacturing transfers, and cross-functional launches with ~50% travel across Japan and Southeast Asia.

Lead development and validation of dynamic models, controls algorithms, and high-fidelity six-degree-of-freedom simulations. Analyze flight-test and fleet data to improve model fidelity, evaluate vehicle designs, recommend controls and system improvements, and build reusable analysis tools to inform engineering and operational decisions.
