Design, build, test, and scale Gusto’s payments infrastructure and platform. Make architectural decisions focused on fault tolerance, scalability, and modularity; modernize Ruby/Rails and TypeScript/React systems; collaborate across engineering, product, design, data science, and operations; deliver software supporting millions of businesses; and mentor fellow engineers.

Own the full sales cycle for Gusto’s PEO offering, from prospecting and discovery through demos, complex stakeholder navigation, and closing. Sell to net-new prospects and existing payroll customers, build broker and accountant referral channels, manage Salesforce pipeline and forecasting, and serve as a PEO subject matter expert. Leverage AI in daily sales workflows, collaborate cross-functionally, and help build the company’s founding PEO sales motion.

Lead and develop the Money Movement engineering team responsible for reliable, compliant payment execution across ACH, wires, real-time payments, checks, international, and stablecoin rails. Manage hiring, coaching, technical execution, on-call ownership, SLOs, and error budgets for tier-one systems. Drive migration from the monolith to a standalone Payments Service with clean API contracts, collaborate with product and operational stakeholders, and contribute hands-on through code reviews and programming when needed.

Manage GRC initiatives covering security policies, SOC 2 Type 2, IT controls, data governance, internal risk assessments, remediation, and third-party vendor risk. Own trust management platforms, automate controls and evidence collection with AI, coordinate external audits and client security assessments, monitor compliance frameworks, and partner across Legal, Security, Engineering, Sales, and IT to improve scalable processes and employee awareness.

Lead go-to-market strategy and experimentation for new products, offers, and market motions. Develop segmentation, positioning, pricing, and cross-product narratives; synthesize market and customer insights; coordinate Product, Sales, Growth, Marketing, and Customer Experience teams; establish processes for ambiguous initiatives; define success metrics; and optimize performance through iterative testing. The role focuses on proving product-market fit before handing successful motions to established product marketing teams.

Leads enterprise-wide People Operations process transformation, HRIS Operations, and People Services. Develops strategies, redesigns employee lifecycle workflows, drives automation and AI-enabled improvements, establishes governance and metrics, improves HR service delivery, and manages cross-functional teams. Partners with HR, Finance, Legal, IT, Security, and business leaders to deliver scalable, compliant, data-driven operational improvements.

Own Gusto’s agentic coding platform, including autonomous coding workflows, AI code review, orchestration, security posture, sandboxing, permissions, infrastructure contracts, and AI spending controls. Lead and grow a senior engineering team, recruit and calibrate talent, set the product and technical roadmap, manage ambiguity across multiple domains, and advise executive leadership on AI-native software development strategy.

Build and scale Gusto's ML/AI platform: design MLOps solutions, automated pipelines, model development frameworks, deployment, monitoring, CI/CD, and observability; collaborate with ML engineers and apply AI tools and best practices to production ML systems.

Design, build, test, and operate Gusto core customer-facing products across frontend and backend. Own multi-quarter projects, scale Ruby/Rails and JavaScript/React systems, mentor engineers, collaborate with product, data, design, and platform teams, and iterate on features that deliver measurable customer impact.
